Scream 2: Movie Review

Scream 2 is a sequel movie to the hit thrilled of 1996, Scream. Written by Kevin Williamson and directed by Wes Craven, this horror film continues the same thrill as the first movie, keeping the audience anticipated and full of suspense.
It has been two years since the tragic events Sidney Prescott had experience at Woodsboro. Now she, as well as the other Woodsboro survivors, are trying to move on with their lives; both her and her friend, Randy Meeks, went away to Windsor College but that wasn’t far enough to leave the problems behind.  Like in Woodsboro, a series of brutal murders begin to take place by a person dressed in the same black robe and white mask, a costume also known as Ghost Face. The first victims were two couples that were in a movie theater; these deaths brought vast media attention to the university where Sidney’s attending, including a return visit from reporter Gale Weathers, Woodsboro deputy Dewey, the “innocent” man that Sidney mistakenly accused of killing her mother years before, and of course Ghost Face.  Now the whole cast is back and at it again; trying to figure out who Ghost Face is while also trying to stay alive. As the killings increase, it becomes obvious that Sidney Prescott is once again the target, but since the killers from the last movie are dead, what is the motive this time? Who’s the person behind the mask? These are the questions that drive the audience insane throughout the whole movie; right when people think they’ve figured it all out, something happens, and you’re back to playing the guessing game. The numbers of suspects only decrease as the body counts increase.

Good things never happen twice, at least that’s what many people tend to believe, but only because they probably haven’t seen Scream 2. Although this sequel has the same concept as the first movie, the way the story is told is what makes it just as good, or even better, than Scream 1. This movie contains way more murders, screaming, running, and suspenseful scenes, and for a horror movie, these are good qualities. This movie also contains more partying. The setting is in a college campus and the film does a great job in showing the stereotypical college life, this includes consumption of alcoholic beverages, loud music, dancing, the sorority and fraternity life, and of course reckless behavior. This film is not for people of all ages, it does contain profanity and sexual scenes; however, if you are old enough to watch it and you enjoy bloody, enthralling, and scary movies, this is definitely for you!
